Preface
We are at the dawn of a New Year. For sure, most of us will have planned changes in their lives. But what is left of them when the year rolls by.
Why do we feel so little addicted to our plans? Is it our environment influencing us, or is it too difficult to put some effort in it?
Each of us will have his or her own reason not to carry out plans.
But, when we think of our mutual goal for a better world, how do we expect this is going to happen?

Somewhere during last month, I came upon one of the many observations of Albert Einstein, founder of many new insights in natural science.
Discussing the developments in Artificial Intelligence he spoke out the following idea.
“Fortunately, there is a human talent that will never be replaced by solutions in the field of artificial intelligence. This is the human talent of inspiration and creation of totally new ideas and insights out of nothingness, have impact on the future world”.
I wish you all for the year to come many moments of inspiration helping you to make efforts for a real better world.
Preview for the month January
The first month of 2022 differs energetically strongly from the preceding month.
As daylight returns on the northern hemisphere, life seems to become a little bit easier.
Especially the transit of the planet Jupiter on December 29th to Pisces could be the reason for this.
Also, the transit of the Lunar node axis to Taurus and Scorpio, gives a change in accents and challenges.
Also, the retrograde periods of Venus (up to January 29th), Mercury (from January 14th) and Uranus (station on January 18th) give changes and many times unexpected, in the energy patterns surrounding us.
Venus R forces us to revalue our value systems, in principle of everything having value in our lives.
This period gives a good opportunity to think the issue of “value in your life” over and decide upon for your personal live.
The question is, what turns out to be the most important when it really comes upon fundamental choices?
And do you pay enough attention to this in your live?
The cosmos is guiding you and will remind you every now and then to these issues, until you have proven to have understood.
♃ and ♆
Jupiter and Neptune both are ruler of Pisces and when planets come together the qualities of both will be mutually strengthened. So, for Pisces amongst us, this offers great opportunities.
In general, we can expect the world to become a little more altruistic.
Also, there will be more interest in mystical and paranormal issues.
This can have various effects.
Neptune is related to our ultimate ideals and Jupiter to growth, development, and justice.
When these energies strengthen each other, this is fine, however, and especially with non-spiritual developed people, it may also lead to opposing developments.
Neptune can also be related to infections, addiction, betrayal. Also, these issues may be strengthened by the presence of Jupiter. So be aware of this.
However, in principle this energy is very positive.
We also can expect issues related to vast amounts of water, from rain showers or flooding as Neptune is also ruler of the seas.
To follow our ultimate ideals will turn out to be a complex dilemma. We need ideals to work on our earthly paradise. Unfortunately, for many people the realization of this is only related to their personal interests and egocentric behavior.
January starts with chances to realize good plans. Use this opportunity, I would say.
January 2nd New Moon on Capricorn 13th gives the opportunity to fill this in with an idea.
The symbolic of this degree is: “A fire worshipper meditates on the ultimate realities of existence”.
It is the degree offering possibilities to discover the truth about life and death. The question is whether we are prepared to make the step to real transcendence.
With the Lunar node axis in Taurus and Scorpio and Uranus in Taurus this may give opportunities for inspiration.
About January 5th we can easily be misled.
Stick at your deepest fundamentals of love and insight to feel what is happening and how to deal with this.
This period of “sweet illusion on a rosa cloud” can last for a while
So be aware you can meet situations where truth is presented in an alternative way and not always in your interest.
When Mercury turns retrograde on January 14th, we must remain attentive.
Pay attention to your communication with friends, a misunderstanding can easily happen.
About January 16th there will be a quest for our insight, especially related to see through games of power.
About January 18th our need for chances and fresh starts is starting to bubble up. Energy will increasingly focus on this mental innovation.
Starting from January 23rd a lot can be expected from the set-up of real society supporting structures.

When on January 29th Venus turns direct again, we will become aware of this by many contradictory movements in economy. There will be corrections of many value systems.
This can also lead to many new opportunities and ideas with respect to changes in value systems.

Astrology and astronomy in daily practice.
This month only Jupiter and Saturn remain visible. The hours after sunset these planets are visible low in the Southwestern skies.
In the preceding newsletter I wrote about the solar eclipse on December 4th. Eclipse time is always a time when important people are making their transfer to eternity.
This bishop Desmond Tutu was the most striking example.
When there is an eclipse, I use to meditate at the very moment.
This time, on December 4th, there was a coming together of special energies in my personal horoscope.
First, we had sunrise (about 8.30), followed by the eclipse (at 08.40). After that there was a New Moon and finally (at 10.34), and in my case a Lunar return (return of the Moon at its radix position).
When I woke up, I got the idea to meditate; it turned out to become a special one.
Part of the meditation was to connect the heart (thymus gland) with the earth by a ray of bright light. Doing this a spontaneous pulsating light effect originated from my heart center and spread around in circles.
The pulsating waves were interchanging white light and violet. Beautiful, everything was filled with warmth, light, and love. And suddenly I saw a hummingbird flying in the middle of these circles.
The day before I had received a special message from my son. It was about a hummingbird with the following text:
On a certain day there was a fire in the forest. All animals fled desperate in all possible directions.
Suddenly the jaguar on his way to a safe place, saw a hummingbird flying over in the opposite direction. Whatever happened, it was not to stop. Somewhat later the jaguar saw the hummingbird passing by in the same direction. The jaguar used the opportunity to ask: Hummingbird, what are you doing? The hummingbird replied, I am going to the lake, fill my beak with water and throw it on the fire to extinguish the fire. The jaguar laughed: Are you crazy? Do you expect to extinguish this big fire with your tiny beak? No, the hummingbird replied, I know I can’t do this, but the forest is my home. It feeds me and my family and I am grateful to that. I help the forest grow by pollinating the flowers. I am part of her.
At the very moment the Gods came the humming bird to help and send a big shower, causing the fire to extinguish.
Indian grandmothers told this to their grandchildren and always finished with the sentence. If you want miracles in your life, do your possible part to create them.
The solar eclipse and New Moon were on the 13th degree of Sagittarius. This degree is asking attention for past acts, influencing a new cycle of life. We are now in the middle of this kind of energy.
I have spent many hours on the life of my ancestors and wondered about their influence in my life.
The 14th degree of Sagittarius (the degree of the lunar return) has the symbolic of spiritual power related to the ancestors as seed for a new generation.
When I spoke my son about the meditation, we finished in giving meaning to life nowadays.
He gave me the following phrase of the sorcerer Gandalf (from “the lord of the rings”).
We cannot see how much time we have left to do for the good, therefore we should do the right things all time remaining us.
And indeed, we cannot know the future. Soon after this moment it turned out I got a covid infection.
The Lunar Node axis to Taurus and Scorpio
On December 23rd there was a subtle but still important change of energy in the cosmos.
The Lunar Nodal axis changed signs and entered Taurus and Scorpio.
Picture: Lunar Nodes Wikipedia Debby Bolung)
The Lunar Nodal axis is an imaginative line representing the intersection of the planes of the ecliptic (earth around the Sun) and the Moon around the earth.
This line connects 2 points the Lunar North Node and, on the opposite, the Lunar South node.
This axis moves retrograde through the ecliptic.
The number 19 is an important key number. The nodal axis needs 19 years for a round through the ecliptic, needs 19 months for a passage through a sign and needs 19 days for one degree within a sign.
The placement in a horoscope indicates one of the many messages in life for the chart owner concerned.
There are many opinions about the meaning of the Lunar nodes.
But many agree on the following:
The actual position shows the challenges (what needs to be changed?) for the community (in sign) and for the individual personally, what is the expected contribution? (in house).
When the Northern Lunar node is in Gemini (where it was up to recently) the message is to focus on improvement of communication and learning processes.
At the same time, we saw the South node in Sagittarius, telling us we can make use of a vast number of past experiences (both positive and negative).
As soon as the Northern Lunar node has entered Taurus, the message is to get insight in the nature as a whole and in the nature as part of yourself. Discover the potential in yourself and Mother Earth and learn to trust upon them. Accept the challenge and develop yourself in harmony with these insights.
With the Southern Lunar node in Scorpio the source of knowledge of past experiences comes from the insight in the reason for life and death. Here we can learn from the mistakes, the consequences and how to prevent them for the future.
The Ace of swords (2)
Picture: Ace of swords (Rider Waite tarot)
In the December newsletter I wrote an article about the Ace of Swords in relation to the COVID pandemic.
I received a beautiful reaction on this article from one of the readers of the newsletter as follows.
Lovely, as always, for you to pop into my inbox . . . and thanks for asking for my thoughts on the pulled card.
I loved your take on the Ace Swords . . . the ‘crown’ certainly speaking out, yes? And that sword . . . well, rather ‘needle-like’, yes?
I must confess, my ‘take’ on what you have written is possibly a little irrelevant given it was a card for you to interpret (which you have deliciously) . . . however, I’ll share my initial thoughts.
At the beginning of your newsletter, you said:
‘We live in a complex world and with all things happening around us, life is not becoming simpler. For many of us this leads to opinions and convictions. Points of view originating at a certain moment and satisfying us as an explanation for everything happening.’
This is very Ace Swords language, isn’t it? ‘complex; opinions; convictions; points of view; originating . . . .’
Then you go not to say . . . . ‘as well as the insight we can solve many problems’
Again, very ace and very swords!
You speak of ‘clarity’. ‘One source.’ ‘Challenges’
If a suit is going to bring on challenges, it is certainly the Swords . . .
I love the aces for many reasons. And I always reiterate to students, (or did when I was teaching), that the books will all tell you the Aces bring gifts and new beginnings,
However, it is important not to leave it there . . . A sword is after all, double-edged!
I sometimes used to use a metaphor of ball sports. You may be passed a ball, however, unless you run, jump, throw, pass it and go on to win a point, score that goal/ try, or whatever, the opportunity is simply lost.
So, that in mind, I would most certainly see our Ace here as wonderful opportunity. But we as individuals (suggested by the Ace itself) really do need to make some effort here. It is not enough to recognize all that is ‘wrong’ and ‘what might need fixing’. It is being ‘pointed out’ and quite ‘pointedly’ too, that this poke and prod in the back is not to be taken too lightly.
We must put our hands up. Look at the Ace of Swords reaching sky-ward
We must be a part of what is changing. And that means for better and for worse.
An overflow of emotion (cups) and any enthusiasm of energy (wands), and practice or what has been before, (pentacles) are not front and center.
We are shown the SWORD. So, what is front and center?
Is this really a time for anger or knee-jerk reaction and fired up emotions, etc.? The Ace is suggesting that perhaps this ‘problem’ will not be solved with that.
Like it or not, the analytical mind of the ‘scientist’, the policy makers, the great ‘thinkers’ . . . may need to be called upon here.
Rigidity in attitudes and thoughts? Individuality and collectivity. Be aware of them. Recognize them. It’s time to cut some of them away.
“I want things to go back to normal’ I hear people whine . . . Gawd, I don’t!
I want us to have learned something from this. About ourselves. About each other. About humanity. About the planet, and, and, and . . . . I want us to come out this other side having grown. Those ‘brains’ we have evolved with over the millennia, may just be being given the opportunity to switch on!
This is an opportunity for problem solving. It’s an opportunity to pierce through illusion. It’s an opportunity for decision making (though I suspect many won’t always like it when something is ‘perceived’ to have been ‘decided’ on their behalves). Maybe it is time to cut loose, even some of the ‘good’ things.
Loss is certainly on the cards . . . the Ace is from the suit of swords, it is not always an easy ride. So how do we process that . . . well, I would suggest with the energy of the Ace of Swords!
Shortly after it became clear I (and my wife) had been infected with COVID. The situation was uncertain and difficult to judge.
Probably I have been infected about the moment of the last solar eclipse. It was conjunct my natal Moon and made a hard aspect with natal Venus.
At the moment Venus got station (and Venus square to my natal Venus) on December 19th, the situation got worse.
On December 24th the day of the final square between Uranus and Saturn, our freedom was very limited. The only thing we could do was how to recover and think of better times.
I reminded the years as a child when we had Christmas Eve in a church, with a real big Christmas tree and true candles in it.
It has been a long time already, but I remind them as holy moment with hopeful looks of all children around, expecting a better future.
I wondered what has been coming out of all those dreams and I concluded, there is still a lot of work to do, also in my own life.
When Jupiter entered Pisces on December 29th the situation suddenly improved (I have my natal Sun in Pisces) and now I am recovered.
